''IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS.''
The Master Sword, also known as The Blade of Evil's Bane is a recurring legendary sword in the Zelda series. Originally crafted by the goddess Hylia as the Goddess Sword, it was later forged into the Master Sword by the goddess' chosen hero and its spirit FI, who bathed it in the three Sacred Flames located across the ladn that would become the Kingdom of Hyrule. Din's Flame in particular, imbued the sword with the power to repel evil, a power apparently augmented after the sword recieved the blessing of Zelda, which transformed the blade into the True Master Sword.
I decided to 3D Model this sword using Rhino after seeing lots of master sword models out there, but not one representing a full scale 1.2meter long sword from The Ocarina of Time. This is perfect for cosplay as Link!
I decided to use dowel joints within this model to hold it together instead of using dovetails. The dowels keep the model sturdy, keep seams between printed pieces to a minimum and increase the weight of the object to feel more like a true sword. The dowels used are 5.5mm diameter, although any dowel close to the size of this will fit well. They are also 900mm long and go through every piece with the exception of the end of the handle and pommel.
THIS ENTIRE SWORD IS SUPPORT FREE TOO
I have also modelled the sheath for this blade which is available from this Link :) also watch this space for updated photos of the sword fully painted and hopefully a fun video or two to go with.

ABS, .29mm layer height; printed on a Zortrax M200. Parts were assembled with wooden dowels and Gorilla Glue, sanded, smoothed with XTC-3D, primed, then spray painted. Tried my best, but seams are still visible. If I were to print this again, I'd use lighter infill for the blade and more infill for the pommel to help with balance. If handling weren't a concern, I'd use metal rods instead of wooden dowels, since mine kept breaking where the blade meets the hilt. Solved the problem by drilling a third hole and sticking a drill bit in there to act as an extra dowel.
