Tulja Bhavani is a form of Durga who is worshiped in parts of India. Bhavani translates to "giver of life", meaning the power of nature or the source of creative energy. She is considered to be a mother who provides to her devotees and also plays the role of dispensing justice by killing Asuras. In the state of Maharastra, worship of Tulja Bhavani goes back to antiquity with many royal houses and noble families as patrons of the goddess. The most famous of them being the warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Bhavānī is an epithet of the Goddess (Devī), who incarnated as Satī.
Worship of the primeval energy, Shakti, in the form of the Mother Goddess is seen in the four Shakti Peethas of Maharashtra. These are significant shrines of Shaktism, the goddess focused Hindu tradition.
Does anybody know anything about the peculiar shape of the idol? If you do, leave the info in the comment section! I couldn't find anything online!
