This is a simple, customizable light-up ON AIR sign that can be controlled with a keyfob remote!
My studio is right next to a noisy staircase, so I needed a way to let my roommates know when I'm recording or livestreaming, so they don't creak up the stairs!
Adafruit's RF Receiver and Keyfob system was the perfect solution. Combined with their Trinket microcrontroller and some NeoPixel LED's, this thing really pops!
With only 3 electrical components and just a few solder points, this is a great project for introducing yourself to electronics and simple Arduino programming.
None of the parts for this print need support, just use hot glue to secure the LED Backplate and the electronics. The red and white signs are removable and are designed to stay in place with just a press fit.
I've included the STEP files for each of the parts, so you can make changes to the design to fit your needs. If you want to make a different version of the sign, use OA-Template and make your cut 1.2mm deep to achieve the same effect.
Good luck and as always,
Happy making guys!
For the parts OA-ON_AIR, OA-LIVE and OA-REC, I utilized the Color Change protocol built into the new Prusa Slicer to combine the the white, red and black filament in 1 single print. If you don't have a Prusa i3 or a printer compatible with Prusa Slicer, you should be able to do this manually with any printer.
Make the color changes at 0.8mm and 2.0mm.
