Description
These two architectural blocks were set into the eastern entrance of The Agora in the city of Thasos.
The style, which attempts to show depth of field, represents the goal of the so-called Severe style (490-450 BC): the sculptor represented Hermes with his bust in three-quarter view and legs in profile, carving out the background to accentuate the muscular arms.
