Description
This is a three-sided tripod base with relief representations, found in Athens. One side of the base has a depiction of Dionysus, the god of wine and patron of the theatre, holding a kantharos and a thyrsus. Each of the other two sides has a winged Nike. The base supported a bronze votive tripod dedicated by a choregos victorious in a drama contest. The figures are attributed to the workshop of Praxiteles on stylistic grounds.
